A little bit about me….
I am Michele and I am Bad Gramma!
Bad Gramma was started in the Spring of 2016, pretty much accidentally, when I started making some items from fabrics with the F-Bomb on them. As I looked at my customer demographics I started finding out that most of my customers were older women or grandmothers, so the name Bad Gramma came to be. As we began to chat, it became clear that there is a whole generation of women who are not the grammas that we remember as kids. Grammas today run businesses and marathons. They have tattoos and ride motorbikes.
This coincided with my own hormonal upsets, a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis a couple of years ago, some adrenal fatigue, and lagging estrogen, progesterone and cortisol levels. I was a birth doula for many years, taught prenatal classes and I love all things related to researching women’s health. I also love learning how nutrition plays a huge part in the mind/body/spirit connection. I joked with a friend, that middle aged women need ‘Menopause Doulas’. Someone who has been there, and is able to hold the hand of women who are just hitting their 40’s and do not know what the hell is going on.
So while I do not proclaim to have all of the answers…. and there are things I still struggle to get through myself, I do promise that if I can help another woman through this, I will. I can be that safe place to spill all the crazy feelings, a virtual doula who will help navigate you through all of the information, find answers and give you peace of mind that you are not losing your mind. What I do is not medical, but instead a holistic approach to help you feel better, and you will still want to seek out advice from your medical Dr.
When I am not at my computer reading about hormones or nutrition, I can usually be found sewing, gardening, or walking the dog. I also love camping, taking motorbike trips, listening to alot country music, going to country music concerts, visiting Las Vegas ( ok that happens rarely…but I am always up for a trip) getting into shape to do a mud run and snuggling up on my grandkids. Oh… and hanging out with my hubby, who puts up with more than one mortal man ever should have to. I like to think I am kind of fun to be around, and I have a sarcastic sense of humour and I am not afraid to drop a well placed f-bomb here or there. This will show up in my blog posts or conversations.
My goals is to head into middle age looking and feeling better than ever and to live a life of purpose and happiness. I hope I can help you do the same.
